Credit Reports

Check out AnnualCreditReport.com.

This site is the result of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act), which allows every person in the United States the right to a free credit report from each of the 3 major credit reporting agencies every 12 months. Some states already mandated that their citizens were allowed a free credit report annually, and Georgia allows two per year, but the FACT Act now extends this right to everyone.

You should check your credit report annually to ensure that there are no discrepancies that could affect your ability to get credit or even a job. You can see your credit reports online, and even challange items that are incorrect. I've had issues in the past with a name mix-up. A few negative items appeared on my credit report due to a Michelle Davis, who had lived in an apartment before me. I had to get some court documents to prove that the items had been attributed to me incorrectly.
